Massa Marittima

From the medieval village to the new city, you can walk along the ancient and steep alleys that intertwine in the historic center and climb up to the upper part of the village; here it is easy to find suggestive and characteristic corners and panoramic points that overlook the valley towards the sea.

Castagneto Carducci

It’s a small village nestled on the top of the hill, dominated by the Castle of the Counts of Gherardesca, once surrounded by walls of which the front facing the sea survives and which together with the church of San Lorenzo, constitutes the original nucleus of the town centre. Around the Castle, whose construction probably dates back to the year 1000, the urban center developed according to a scheme of concentric rings which give life to a system of streets, alleys and small squares.

Bolgheri

It’s a medieval Maremma village which can be accessed along the scenic avenue of cypresses, made famous by the poet Carducci and today a World Heritage Site, under the protection of UNESCO. It is curious to know that the name Bolgheri derives from the presence of a military settlement of Bulgarians who, allies of the Lombards, were responsible for defending the area from a possible landing of the Byzantines.
Bolgheri is also famous for the excellent red wines that are produced in the area, also thanks to the particular characteristics of the soil and the sunny, dry and moderately ventilated microclimate that the magnificent vineyards can enjoy.
